The three exirences I have chosesn to share are what has made the biggest impact on me in the past four years.

Belize

To graduate with a degree in Environmental Studies at Ithaca College, you must complete a cultural immersion.  For my cultural immersion, I traveled to Belize with a group of other Ithaca College students.

While in the country we acted as "ecotourists", learning about the country, its culture, and environmental problems.  Some other activites we took part in were hiking, homestays in a local village, building a garden at the elementary local school, and exploring ruins, caves, and coral reefs.

Men's Track and Field

As well as being part of the Environmental Studies Program, I was a member of the Men's Varsity Track and Field team for four years.  I competed in the High Jump, helping the team win eight conference championships and winning a state championship.

My senior year I was named team Captain by my coaches and teammates.  Being part of this team, showed me how hard work always pays off, and that if we all work our hardest, you can achieve your goals.

Compost Recycle Trash Team

For a semester long intership, I joined the Compost Recycle Trash Team at Ithaca College.  For a few nights a week, my duties consited of sorting through the waste collected throughout the day in the trash, recycle, and compost bins on campus.  On top of that I was incharge of directing students to dispose of their trash properly.

From this experience I saw just exactly how much we waste on campus.  I remember a few instances where I would find a whole sandwich still wrapped up in its packaging.  Also it is clear that students where not alway 100% sure what was compost and what was not.
